Il nostro Hotel Abbazia fa parte dell'ex Monastero dei Frati Carmelitani Scalzi di Venezia.


La Storia: Monumento Nazionale: I Carmelitani Scalzi iniziarono la costruzione del Convento (demolito nella prima metà del sec. XIX per dare spazio alla stazione ferroviaria) e della chiesa nel 1656, su disegno di Baldassare LONGHENA (n. Venezia 1598-1682).
Alla sua morte prese la direzione del progetto Fra Giuseppe Pozzo, carmelitano scalzo (n. Trento 1645-1721) che disegnò alcuni altari e le decorazioni.
Il tempio è il più fastoso esemplare di stile barocco a Venezia, in cui s’accentua l’aspetto coloristico con forti contrasti di luce, con la varietà dei marmi, con la vivacità dell’oro sui fregi, con la plasticità esuberante delle forme e delle figure rappresentate a fresco, su tela, nel marmo, in prospettiva illusoria e scenografica.
Il tutto proclama il trionfo della libertà dello spirito artistico che anima e sublima sinfonicamente la materia.
La chiesa misura m. 45 per 25; la facciata è alta m. 24.


Ubicazione: L’Hotel Abbazia è situato in pieno centro storico, a soli 150 metri dalla stazione ferroviaria “Santa Lucia” di Venezia e a circa dieci minuti di cammino dal terminal automobilistico di “Piazzale Roma”.

Le Camere: L’Hotel Abbazia fa parte del suggestivo complesso conventuale dei Frati Carmelitani Scalzi.
Il recente restauro ha conservato il fascino dell’antica abbazia, nella quale sono state ricavate 50 camere, parte delle quali con vista sul giardino interno, accessibile a tutti i clienti.

Our Hotel Abbazia is a part of the mystycal former Monastery of the Barefooted Carmelite Friars of Venice.


History: National Monument: The barefooted Carmelite Friars began to build their convent (later demolished during the first half of the 19th century to make room for the railway station) and their church in 1656, according to the plan by Baldassare Longhena (b. Venice 1598, d. 1682).
After his death the plan was carried out by Giuseppe Pozzo, a Carmelite Friars (b. Trento 1645 – d. 1721), who also designed some of the altars and decorations.
This church is the most splendid example of the baroque style in Venice.
Strong contrasts of the light and shadow, the use of a variety of marbles, the glittering of gold friezes and the vigorous plastic quality of shapes and figures, both painted and sculpted and set in highly dramatic perspective, all combine to achieve a most colourful effect.
Everything seems to celebrate the triumph of the artist spirit over dead matter.
The Church measures is metres by 25; the facade is 24 metres high.


Location: The Hotel Abbazia is situated just in the historical centre, only 150 metres from the railway station “Santa Lucia” and walking about eight minutes from the car terminal “Piazzale Roma”.

Rooms: Our Hotel Abbazia (Abbey) belongs to the evocative monastery complex of the Barefooted Carmelite Friars of Venice. The recent restoration wanted to preserve the charm of the ancient Abbey, where there have been opened 50 rooms, a part of which looking a private inner garden.
