ANTICA LOCANDA STURION

Ubicazione: Abbiamo il piacere di presentarVi la "Antica Locanda Sturion", un hotel a 3 stelle situato nel centro storico della citta', affacciato sul Canal Grande e sul Ponte di Rialto, a pochi passi dal pittoresco mercato del pesce di Rialto.

La Storia: Le prime notizie dell'albergo dello Storione risalgono alla fine del 1200 quando, sopra l'arcatura di calle dello Sturion si affacciava sul Canal Grande la casa Albergo omonima, voluta dal Doge di Venezia per ospitare i mercanti stranieri che venivano a portare le loro merci al mercato di Rialto. Ristrutturato nel 1300, l'albergo conobbe nel 1400 il periodo di maggior splendore, ospitando famosi navigatori e mercanti oltre a 7 Ambasciatori del Friuli con tutto il loro seguito. Nel 1494 il pittore Vittore Carpaccio rappresenta la facciata e l'insegna della Locanda Sturion nel quadro "Il miracolo della Croce", esposto alle Gallerie dell'Accademia. La locanda continua ad esser citata in vari testi storici fino alla fine del '700. Successivamente diventera' casa privata di una ricca famiglia veneziana, per ritornare alla luce negli anni '50, nello stesso posto e sulle stesse fondamenta che videro sette secoli di Storia della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia.

In stile "Settecento Veneziano", con damaschi e specchiere, le stanze sono dotate di bagno privato e/o vasca/doccia, aria condizionata, telefono diretto, TV Sat, minibar, asciugacapelli, cassaforte e bollitore caffe'/the con biscotti ad uso gratuito.
Gli arredi interni ad ogni stanza sono stati realizzati con cura particolare e ripropongono la classica camera da letto del settecento veneziano.
Di particolare utilita' la piccola biblioteca dei nostri ospiti con guide e testi di pregio sulla storia e l'architettura veneta, in varie lingue straniere.

Location: We are pleased to introduce you to the "Antica Locanda Sturion", a three-star hotel located in the city's historic center. Overlooking the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge, it is just a few steps' from Rialto's picturesque fish market.

History: Hotel Sturion is first heard of towards the end of the 13th century, where above the arch at Calle dello Sturion and overlooking the Grand Canal was the House with the same name which the Doge of Venice had specifically built to suit the comfort of foreign merchants taking their goods to the Market of Rialto. Refurbished in the 14th century, the hotel reached the peak of its renown in the 15th century when celebrated navigators and traders and even seven Ambassadors from Friuli were among its guests. In 1494, Vittore Carpaccio in his painting "The Miracle of the Cross", which can be seen at the Academy. The inn was continually mentioned in a variety of historical texts through the end of the 18th century. It then became the private home of a wealthy Venetian family. In the 1950s, the inn resurfaced in the same place and with the same foundations that had seen seven hundred years of the "Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia"'s history.

Rooms: "Antica Locanda Sturion" features 9 rooms and 2 family rooms with views of the Grand Canal. The rooms are decorated in 18th century Venetian style, complete with damask upholstery and dressing tables. The rooms all come equipped with private bathrooms with bathtubs and/or showers, air conditioning, direct telephones, satellite TVs, minibars, hairdryers, safes, coffee/tea makers and complimentary cookies.
The decor in every room has been created with the greatest care to recall a classic 18th century Venetian bedroom.
The small library that we offer our guests is very useful, with guides and important books about Venetian history and architecture in a variety of foreign languages.
Some of our larger rooms can sleep up to 4 guests or small families.
