Ubicazione: L'Hotel Ducale è
dominato dai ruderi dell'antica Cirella: a città morta
edificata da popoli dell'Asia Minore che sfuggendo l'ira
del re persiano Ciro, approdarono alle coste calabre e la
chiamarono Ciurella. Fu distrutta una prima volta da
Annibale, poi dai saraceni e definitivamente dai
francesi.
Ricavato in una splendida villa fatta costruire nel
Settecento dai duca Gonzaga, l'Hotel Ducale recentemente
ristrutturato è oggi un punto di riferimento inconfondibile
per il turismo più esigente che ama il Sud Italia.

Location: The Hotel Ducale
has been Ruggeri's since the beginning of 19th century and
overlooks the sea of the opposite isle. The hotel still
preserves remains of an ancient town, Cirella, which was
built up by people from Asia Minor, who menaged to get away
from Ciro, King of Persia,reached Calabria's coasts and
called them Ciurella. The town was first destroyed by
Annibal, then by the Saracens and eventually by the
French.
Settled in a wonderful residence
built in the 18th century by Gonzaga Dukes, the
Ducale Hotel has been recently refurbished
and it currently is a reference point
for the most demanding visitors,
who like Southern Italy.
