Punta Ala, esclusiva meta di villeggiatura
dell'Alta Maremma, proprio di fronte all'isola d'Elba,
deve il proprio nome ad Italo Balbo,
il grande aviatore degli anni '20, che così
la nominò quando vide dall'alto una distesa
di pini che dalla piccola collina degradava verso
il mare limpido e la spiaggia bianca di sabbia
fine, come l'ala spiegata di un gabbiano.
Non è quindi un caso che il simbolo
del Gallia Palace sia un gabbiano.

Grazie al fatto di essere nato con la località
stessa agli inizi dei fastosi anni '60,
il Gallia Palace vanta una posizione di assoluto
privilegio immerso com'è in un giardino
con prati all'inglese, fiori, piante mediterranee,
querce e sughere, oltre ad una pineta secolare
da attraversare per accedere alla spiaggia privata
di finissima sabbia bianca.

Punta Ala, the exclusive holiday resort
in Alta Maremma which looks out on the island of Elba,
owes its name to Italo Balbo,
the great 1920s Italian aviator.
The pilot came up with the name, which means
"Wing Tip", after flying over a vast stretch of pine trees
that,
from a tiny hilltop sloped down towards
a crystal clear sea and beaches of fine white sand,
like the outstretched wing of seagull.
