A PALAZZO BUSDRAGHI

Palazzo Busdraghi risale al XVI secolo, di pianta trapezoidale con complessa distribuzione interna derivata dalle precedenti strutture medioevali, è de limitato da Via Fillungo, Via Busdraghi e Via del Portico; l'ingresso al cortile da Via Fillungo avviene a corpo cin quecentesco e porticato a loggia con un bel portale civitales co di or dine dorico. La Compagnia della Croce che aveva il compito d i assistere i condannati a morte e ricevere i pellegrini fu una delle ultime dimore della famiglia. Altresì apprezzato il vasto giardino delim itato dal lungo muro prospiciente la via che porta il nome del casato che assieme all'immobile pervenne alla famiglia d al matrimonio di Anna di Michele Bartolomei con Giuseppe F rances c o nel 1701. La facciata del Fillungo è del 1500 c on il portone dei battenti in legno con gli stemmi del casat o incastonato in un'antica rosta con colonne esterne ed inte rne nel cortile che si richiamano allo stile di noti artist i lucchesi d e l XVI secolo. Già nel 1340 Jacopo di Piero Busdraghi aveva la casa nella zona perchè locava un immobile in contrada S. Pietro Somali descritto come extra portam, men tre la casa grande della famiglia era quella che Giuseppe Fra ncesco possedeva in Via S.Giorgio e che con il consenso del Consiglio Generale aveva venduto a Lelio Ottorini cede ndolo poi nel 1800 ai Marchesi Meuron. Avevano anche posse dimenti a Pozzuolo ( ora Quilici) "di bella villa c o n uliveto".

Palazzo Busdraghi dates back to the 16th century and has an irregular rectangular shape with a complex distri bution of internal space that derives from earlier medieval buildings. It is bounded on three sides by Via Fi llungo, Via Busdraghi and Via del Portico, and the entrance to the courtyard from Via Fillungo is through a 16th-ce ntury covered loggia with a beautiful portal with Doric col umns in the Civitali st yle. The Company of the Cross, whose role was to assist peo ple who were condemned to death and to give hospitality to pilgrims, was one of the last dimore of the famil y . There is also a large beautiful garden behind the long wall on Via Busdraghi. This name as well as the property became the family's through the marriage of Anna di Michele B artolomei to Giuseppe Francesco Busdraghi in 1701. T he façade in Via Fillungo dates from 1500 and has a wood- panelled door and family crests set into an old fanli ght, with columns on the outside and in the courtyard in the style of noted artists in Lucca in the 16th centu ry. Jacopo di Piero Busdraghi was already living in the area in 1340, renting a property described as extra portam in th e San Pietro Somaldi district, while the family's principal house was the one owned by Giuseppe Francesco in Via San Giorgio which he sold, with the consent of the General C ouncil, to Lelio Ottorini who later sold it to the ma rquises Meuron.
