E proprio nell'habitat rupestre dei Sassi di Matera nasce il nuovo incantevole Hotel Sant'Angelo.

L'hotel è frutto del sapiente recupero conservativo di un'area di oltre 1400 mq che ingloba case-grotte, vicoli, scale, cortili.

L'Hotel Sant'Angelo ha una capacità ricettiva di 45 posti letto distribuiti in 16 dimore storiche o case-grotte.

Case Grotte: L'Hotel Sant'Angelo dispone di 16 dimore storiche, ciascuna della superficie media di oltre 50 mq, corrispondenti ad altrettante case-grotte di cui sono fedelmente riproposti gli ambienti interni articolati in più vani, con angolo soggiorno.
Tutte le dimore sono dotate di bagno privato, telefono, televisore satellitare, aria condizionata, cassaforte e frigo-bar.
Disposte a schiera, con affaccio unico su slarghi aperti e piazzette, nella tipica configurazione del "vicinato", o distribuite su diversi livelli e collegate da scale e ballatoi, rispettano le caratteristiche strutturali proprie della "casa-ipogeo" dei Sassi, con la parte anteriore in muratura di tufo e la parte posteriore scavata nella roccia.
Godono tutte di una spettacolare vista panoramica, in una posizione strategica rispetto agli itinerari turistici e culturali della città.
L'accurato restauro e la corretta trasformazione d'uso delle unità abitative preesistenti, la ricca dotazione di impianti tecnologicamente avanzati, i servizi comuni e complementari consentono di classificare l'Hotel Sant'Angelo in una categoria superiore.

Ristorante: Il ristorante si trova sul livello superiore ed ècostituito da due sale comunicanti tra loro, con due ingressi indipendenti con finestre sovrastanti le porte. Le sale, interamente ipogee, con alcuni muri divisori, nella zona antistante costruiti in tufo a faccia vista, sono pavimentate in pietra di Apricena, con pareti interne intonacate nella zona d'ingresso e a faccia vista nella zona retrostante.
Volte ipogee, con presenza in alcuni tratti di volte costruite in tufo del tipo a tutto sesto, con particolare presenza nella parte retrostante, della zona di comunicazione delle due sale ristoranti, di due volte a sesto ribassato e di due antiche mangiatoie, tipiche delle antiche case nei Sassi. Arredo realizzato in elegante stile classico, con circa cento posti a sedere. Bagni ricavati in zone ipogee con pavimentazione e rivestimento in pietra. 

Offre ai propri ospiti numerosi servizi per un soggiorno indimenticabile:
un ristorante dall'ambiente rustico e caldo per gustare le specialità gastronomiche lucane, due bar, panoramiche terrazze attrezzate, sale comuni e una galleria d'arte.

It is precisely in this ruprestian habitat in Matera’s famous Sassi that the enchanting Hotel Sant’Angelo was created.

The hotel is the result of painstaking preservation and renovation of over 1400 square meters including cave dwellings, pathways, stairways and courtyards.

Hotel Sant’Angelo is able to accommodate up to 45 guests distributed
into 16 historical dwellings.
The peculiarities of the cave dwellings: Hotel Sant'Angelo is made up of 16 historical dwellings, each with an average surface area of 50 square meters that correspond with other cave dwellings whose interiors have been reproduced and divided into various dwellings with living rooms.
All rooms are furnished with: private bath, telephone, satellite television, air conditioning, a safe and mini-bar.
The Hotel layout is aligned in rows lending itself to a typical neighbourhood that overlooks courtyards and small town squares and are distributed onto different levels and connected by stairways and landings and retains all of the characteristics of the Sassi’s hypogeum houses. With both the front and the rear being carved from the tufa.
Each dwelling enjoys a spectacular panoramic view conveniently located along the city’s tourist itineraries.
The accurate restoration and transformation of the pre-existing living environments, now richly equipped with modern technology and the complementary services are what makes Hotel Sant'Angelo in a class above all the rest.  

Restaurant: The restaurant is found on the top floor and is made up of two connecting halls, with two independent entrances with windows above the doors. The halls entirely made from hypogeum, with few walls, in the front area made from rough tufa walling, and of “Apricena” stone, with plastered internal walls in the entrance area and rough tufa walling to the rear.
Hypogeum ceiling, with the presence of roman arches made in tufa in certain areas, particularly towards the rear of the restaurant, in the leisure area of both halls, two roman arches and two ancient stables, typical of ancient houses in the Sassi. Furnished in an elegant but classic style, seating around 100 people The bathrooms have been excavated in the hypogeum area and are tiled in stone.
